We’ve even seen dating sites that are complete shams with chat bots and fake profiles. So you can probably see why we’re a little skeptical about yet another BBW dating site.

The site is part of the Tangowire dating network, therefore you know it’s a solid, reputable site, and it has the numbers to prove it with over 3.5 million members worldwide (and more joining every day).

To become a member of this dating site, the registration process is pretty simple. You’ll be asked to indicate your gender and what gender you’re interested in meeting. From there, you just need to fill in your email address and date of birth.

How to Create a Dating Profile on BBWFriendsDate

Once you hit the “Submit” button when you register, you will then be taken to a page where you will be able to fill in your dating profile. This portion of the registration process is a little tedious because you can’t leave anything blank and come back to it later.

The information you’ll be asked to fill in is broken up into sections:

Your location

Information about you

Your background

If you have children

Also, you cannot leave profile photo empty to upload at a later date. The site has a strict photo policy.

Your face must be visible in all photos

You must upload no less than three (3) photos

You must include a full body photo

Cartoon and nature images will get your account closed

Nude photos will get your email banned

With that said, just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’s good. We tried messaging several people and nothing went through. The screen kept loading.

This was highly disappointing. We did a little digging and found some reviewers said you could only send a message to someone if they’re a premium member. Curious to see if this is true, we tried looking around for a tab where you can upgrade to a premium plan. We found absolutely nothing.

Sadly, we’re at a loss on how to message someone on this site.

How to Search Profiles on BBWFriendsDate

There are several different ways you can search profiles on the site. The first is by using the good old search feature, which is located at the top of your screen. When you click on that, you’re taken to a very basic search screen.

You’re only able to search for people by their age, gender and location. That’s it.

With that said, there is a “Match Me” tab and a “Members Online Now” tab that you can use to look through profiles.

The “Match Me” tab functions a lot like those other dating apps that requires you to swipe left or right. With this, you’re asked if you’d like to meet someone (their profile picture, age and location are displayed). You’ll then have three choices: yes, maybe, no.

The “Members Online Now” is your run of the mill list that shows you who is currently online. At the time of writing this review, there were 3,408 members online, which is quite impressive.

The site does have a “Groups” tab but it’s not active at the time of this review, although we are interested in discovering what these groups are and how the function will work.

How to Cancel a BBWFriendsDate Account

You might be wondering how to cancel a BBWFriendsDate account and just like the registration process, deleting your account is just as simple. All you have to do is go to the “Settings” tab near the top of the page. When you click on that, scroll down to the very bottom where it says “Privacy”. Under that there’s a bright red button that says, “Delete My Profile.”

When you click on that button, you aren’t going to be redirected to another page. Instead, you’ll see a popup that’ll ask you to confirm that you want your profile, settings and data deleted permanently. Hit the “confirm” button.

Within seconds, your information is deleted and you’re no longer a member of BBWFriendsDate.

At first glance, BBWFriendsDate seems like it would be the perfect place for BBW to find their special someone. If there are millions of people on the site and thousands of people who are online at any point in the day, of course you’re going to meet someone.

So, why do we hesitate in recommending this site? Well, for a few reasons. One of the main reasons is that the site is not secure. There is no “HTTPS” in the address bar and the URL bar actually tells you, “not secure.” This is alarming because, while there isn’t any confidential information on the site, it’s still unnerving that your privacy isn’t guaranteed.

Another reason problem we had with the site was the horrible load times. Several instances we had to reload the page because the site was stuck loading; and speaking of loading… We aren’t sure if messaging members is locked behind a secret pay wall that we weren’t able to find, or if the slow loading times was the reason why we couldn’t message anyone.

If you’re feeling a little bored and you want to sign up to BBWFriendsDate just to give it a go, you can certainly do that. You have the potential to meet some amazing people on the site - if you can message them, that is.
