When you register an account with Luv Free, you’ll need to fill out several categories with a few details to create your member login which will also serve as a mobile login whether on your computer or mobile app.
Username
Gender
Gender of desired partner
Country, state, city and zip code
Headline
About Me
Email address
Password
Invite Code
At this list, you may be wondering what on earth is a “headline” on a dating profile? Think of it as a title to an article, something to entice other users to click on your profile and read the whole “article,” in this case being your “About Me” section.
For a website that promises a 100% free experience, it’s interesting that they have an option to insert an invite code, something that’s usually incentivized to use by users in order to get free credits or other forms of digital money to spend on things like the ability to see more people or to get better matches. Despite searching, no evidence of an invite code generator could be found, so the option seems moot.
Though you’re required to fill some parts of the profile out while registering, there is more to do to create your dating profile. When choosing to edit your profile, it asks a series of profile questions and for certain details that some have the option of “I prefer not to say” but has no option of “no preference.” While this point could be purely semantic, the former sounds secretive where the latter sounds open minded and the difference could potentially lead to miscommunication as there isn’t a lot of room for profile questions.
The general categories in the profile include:
Personal Details
Photo
Interests
Email & Notifications
Authentication
Person You Are Looking For
“Hide Me” options
More Options
To search for other users, you’ll switch to the “Search” tab at the top of the website, next to “My Panel.” If you’ve fully fleshed out your profile, you’ll have already set up your preferences when searching under the “Person You Are Looking For” category. If not you’ll have to change all the properties every time you conduct a search, including age range, what kind of relationship you’re looking for (which includes a pen pal option, which is actually really sweet), their ethnicity, religion, country. Optional categories include a range from a zip code or search by city. You’ll catch on easily for how to use Luv Free’s search.
When you search profiles, you’ll see their picture (if one is offered), their user name, some basic information like gender, age, and location, along with their headline and a portion of their “about me” section.
There is no option to search by username, if you happen to know someone’s username or decided you’d find them later, so make sure you know how to message someone on Luv Free or some other way to keep track of them before leaving their account page. Don’t try it with mobile either as it’ll be hard to remember if you use your search mobile.
Deleting your Luv Free account is easy but a little confusing. For how to cancel your Luvfree subscription, as most of the settings are found in the “My Profile” tab, one would guess the option to delete the profile would be located there. Despite that common sense, the option to delete your account is located in the “My Panel” tab in the “manage profile” section. Click on that button and the website will ask you to confirm if you want to delete your account. Click “Delete” under the warning message to complete the action.
Luv Free is a great option for people looking to find any kind of connection, whether it’s romantic, platonic, or just someone to write to. The search function is easy to use. While the website’s design is busy and the layout is confusing, it’s still fairly easy to navigate with a bit of trial and error. Because it’s completely free, there’s no annoyance of being teased at something just out of reach, if only you’d shell out a few dollars for a possible connection because the “what if” factor is so strong when looking for human connections. Additionally, the website uses moderators to check profiles every time they’re changed in order to weed out any bots or sketchy users.
