AnastasiaDate was created in 1993 and is owned and operated by SOL Networks Limited. The dating service is geared toward helping men from all over the world meet women from like Russia, Moldova, and Ukraine, among other European countries. With a whopping 20 million users worldwide (6.7 million visitors every month), it’s no surprise that the company has 300 staff members in offices in several different countries.
Since there are so many people using the site, you’re probably eager to register for an account. Well, the registration process is really easy, especially since the site allows you to forego the usual registration process and sign in via Google.
For the purpose of this review, we will be going through the motions and creating an account the regular way. To do this, you will have to provide your:
Country of residence
Email address (this will double as your member login)
You will have to confirm your email, so make sure you type it correctly. We know how fast our fingers can fly when we’re excited! If you didn’t get a confirmation email, you can choose to have them resend it or you can change the email in case you forgot your password. Either way, be sure to check your spam folder to make sure it wasn’t hiding there.
Once your email has been confirmed, you aren’t going to go through typical prompts urging you to create your profile. Instead, you’re going to see a variety of women’s profiles you can do a live chat with or a CamShare, AnastasiaDate’s version of video chat.
You’ll also see a grid of icons that include:
Number of people currently online
After you’ve confirmed your account, you’ll want to work on your dating profile and make sure you provide as many details as you can because that profile will be how people will get to know you and vice versa.
To complete your profile, you’ll be asked to include the typical information like:
Eye and Hair color
You’ll also be able to select the reason why you joined the site (marriage, companionship, hookups, etc.). You will also fill out very basic information about the type of person you’re looking for, as well as where you’d like to travel with said partner.
Unlike traditional dating sites where you pay for a monthly subscription, AnastasiaDate requires you to purchase credits in order to use the services. Let’s say you meet a woman and you start chatting with her. The first three minutes are free, but after those three minutes, you’ll be asked to purchase credits, which are sold in increments.
They are, as follows:
20 credits = $15.99
40 credits = $30
80 credits = $56
160 credits = $96
320 credits = $185
500 credits = $249
1,000 credits = $399
Now you may be thinking that these credits will last you a long time, that’s not necessarily the case.
A single text-based chat with someone will cost you one credit. If you wanted to do a live chat with a woman with video (you can see her, she can’t see you), that'd cost two credits. CamSharing is even more, costing you six credits per minute. If you want to send a woman a letter, that’ll cost you 10 credits.
As you can see, your credits will go pretty quickly if you’re like chatting online.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to pay for everything. With a basic membership (aka free), you’ll be able to:
The search feature on the site is pretty basic. You can hit the search link on the red bar at the top of the screen. From there you’ll be able to search members based on age range, what country they’re in, and their interests. You can also request only to see members who are online, available in CamShare or who have video.
If that’s a little to generalized for you, there is an advanced search feature that allows you to go into more detail about what you’re looking for. Some of the search parameters under the advanced tab include:
Height and weight
Hair and eye color
Smoking or non
If you want to cancel an AnastasiaDate account, you’re out of luck, as there is no way actually to delete the account. Instead, you’ll have to go into your settings and delete all the information you’ve provided. This includes removing your profile photos, your mobile number and so forth. This will make your profile anonymous.
If you have a paid membership, you will have to contact their customer support team by email or via a 1-800 number.
Thankfully, if you have downloaded the mobile app on either Android or iOS, cancelling your subscription is a little easier.
Open Google Play Store
Click on your profile (the three lines at the top left of the screen)
Click on Subscriptions
Scroll until you find the AnastasiaDate mobile app
Press Cancel and then Confirm
Go to settings > iTunes
Tap on your Apple ID to view it
Scroll until you find “Subscriptions”
Tap on your AnastasiaDate membership
Use options to cancel the subscription
Is it just us, or does this seem overly complicated and tedious?
AnastasiaDate seems like it would be a really good site to find European women who you could chat with, flirt with, and possibly even fall in love with. Sadly, we will never know because we had some troubles with our test account.
The first time we signed up to give the site a whirl, we were able to sign up and was told to confirm our email. When we tried to do that, we kept getting errors saying the password didn’t match and the account couldn’t be found.
The second time we went through the process, we were able to confirm the account and even start using the services a little. However, we discovered if the screen is idle for 15 minutes or so, it will log you out the next time you clicked on a link. When you tried to log back in, we had the same problems as we did the first time - even after deleting cookies and browser history!
If we didn’t have these problems, we would say that the site is worth giving a shot, despite the costly credits which you must use for everything.
Another problem we ran into is that this site is designed specifically for men seeking the typical Eastern European woman. If you’re a lady and join the site, you will not find any male profiles (at least in our experience), but you will still receive messages from chatbots constantly.
When you combine the persistent chatbot messages with the login problems and the expensive credit system, we’re saying that you should use this site with caution.
