AsiaMe is owned by Qpid Networks they decided to combine two of their largest, most popular Asian dating sites in 1998 - ChnLove and iDateAsia. By combining the two sites, Qpid has provided singles with access to a wider selection of Asian singles who are looking for a connection.
Although the site has been around for two decades (which is pretty impressive for a dating site), they have kept up with the latest technology by offering members innovative communication methods and some of the best security protocols in the industry.
To become a member of the site, you’ll be asked to fill in the standard questions most sites ask when new members register. You’re going to supply:
First and last name
Your gender
Birthdate
Email address
Desired password
After you complete the registration process, make sure you check your email for a verification email. If you don’t see it in your inbox, check your spam folder - that’s where ours ended up.
Once you confirm your account, you’ll be presented with a form where you’ll answer a variety of questions about what your ideal match is like. You can specify things like:
Age
Hobbies and interests
Highest education level
...and more.
If you’re okay with dating women with children, you can specify this as you’re filling out information about your ideal match.
You know how most other dating sites ask you to fill out long questionnaires when you create your dating profile? That’s not the case with AsiaMe. The profile questions on this site is pretty basic. You’ll answer things like your hobbies, preferences, and other useful details.
You will also have the opportunity to write more about yourself and your likes in the space provided. This is a great place to show off your personality and draw people’s interest. However, if you aren’t a good writer or if you have a hard time talking about yourself, you can always use the auto-write feature.
The auto-write feature provides you with a series of tags that you can select that best represents you. Then the system will generate a paragraph using those tags. In our experience, the computer generated paragraph was okay, but it didn’t have that authentic feel, if you know what we mean.
We want to make a note that your profile will be linked to all of the sites that Qpid Network owns. Whatever changes you make on this profile, it will be reflected on the other sites as well.
If you’ve been with us for a while, you’re well aware that dating sites often have a basic plan and a premium plan, and AsiaMe is no different. AsiaMe’s basic plan is just that - pretty basic. The free features you have access to include:
Register for an account for free
Ability to use advanced search filters
Upload a profile photo
Access to speedy customer service
Protected by the site’s safety and security systems
What’s different about AsiaMe is that they don’t have the typical monthly premium plan. Instead they use a credit based system. To access the premium features, you will need to buy credits… And they aren’t cheap. A single credit will cost you $1.99. If you’re going to use the video chat feature, you’re going to use 0.6 credits per minute. So… As you can imagine if you find that you’re having fun on the site, it’s going to cost you a pretty penny.
So, what do you get with the premium plan?
Bonus points to send your first love letters
Ability to chat with new members for free
Unlimited access to other member’s profile photos
Priority response from Qpid’s customer service team
Ability to send flowers and gifts to members
Access to video chat, calls and live chat features
Unfortunately, every method of communication on this site requires the use of credits so if you plan on talking to people, you’re going to be spending some money. Not only that, but each method of communication is “priced” differently and the prices are dependent on how often and/or how long you use the feature.
One thing we noticed is that this site is geared mostly toward men, as there’s no option to search for single Asian men - you’ll only be able to search for women.
With that said, there are many different ways you can search profiles on the site. If you aren’t trying to waste any time meeting women on the site, you can use the quick search feature where you’re only specifying the age range and location (region and province). You can use the advanced search feature where you search by a variety of details such as:
Search when the last time users were online
Education level
Profession
Height and weight range
...and more.
If you want to dive right in and browse profiles to see who catches your eye, there’s a “Ladies Gallery” with a few different options for viewing profiles. These options include:
Newest ladies
Featured profiles
Newest videos
Latest refresh
Ladies who are online now
Make an instant call
The search page also gives you the option to search by username.
A question many people seem to have is how to cancel an AsiaMe account. While you can’t delete the profile completely as though you were never on the site, you can make your profile inactive and invisible to other members on the site.
You can do this by going into your account and click on the “Updates” page. From there you’ll want to scroll down until you find the option to “Switch Off Profile” and click on it. You’ll be asked to provide a reason why you’re turning your profile off.
After you’ve provided your answer, you’re going to click the “Continue” button where you’ll be asked to enter your password. Once the password has been provided, click the “Continue” button once more. This will make your profile invisible and inactive.
Since there is a mobile app for this site, here’s a quick rundown on how to cancel your account on Android and iOS.
Android:
Go to the Google Play Store
Tap the “Menu” option
Tap on “My Apps”
Tap on “Subscriptions”
Tap on the Qpid Network App subscription
Tap “Cancel” and then tap “Yes”
iOS:
Go to the iTunes/App store
Tap on your Apple ID located at the top of your screen
Tap on “Subscriptions”
Tap on the “AsiaMe” subscription and then follow the cancellation instructions
AsiaMe is a popular dating site that’s been around for quite a while and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, either. Does longevity mean that you should join? That depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to fall in love and you’ll spare no expense to find the Asian woman of your dreams, then yes. However, if you’re not too serious about your dating experience and prefer not to spend a whole lot of money, then you might want to skip this particular site.
The reason why we say that this site is worth joining for long term love is because if you’re going to be spending a lot of money (let’s face it, you’re going to have to buy credits just to talk to someone), you’re not going to talk to just anyone. You’re probably going to take your time and find ladies who pique your interest and you feel like you have to get to know them more.
In a way, by making users use credits to communicate makes you be a little more selective instead of diving in and flirting with random women that you have no intention of getting to know better. In our book, this is a good thing.
