You’re required to register an account with Love and Seek before you can see the website. To create your member login and mobile login, you’ll need to provide:
Your gender and who you’re seeking
Country
Zip code
First name
Password
Birthdate
Brief summary of yourself
Not required to create your account but is recommended to include is a photo, but you can register using your Facebook app in lieu of filling out all the information by hand. This lets you move photos from your Facebook to your profile very easily.
During the registration process, you’ll be prompted to pick a subscription but this is skippable if you don’t want to choose at that moment.
Your profile isn’t just visible to you but everyone that comes across it, so you’ll want to fill out all the profile questions with ample details (though nothing that could identify you on a quick Google search – internet safety!) and at least one good photo to give other users a good idea of who you are and if they’re interested. This helps save everyone time and awkward messaging chats.
To create your profile, you’ll fill out information like:
Desired relationship
Denomination
Education
Income
Marital status
Ethnicity
Body type
Pets
Church involvement
Smoking preference
Political affiliation
One of the benefits of Love and Seek’s profile layout is that some of the profile questions you fill out can be chosen and highlighted on your dating profile as “Message Ideas” to help give others that come across your profile an idea of what to start a conversation with as opposed to any old generic ice breaker. Pick your message ideas carefully! You’ll want something that inspires a unique answer or response to avoid getting hit with the same starting conversation topic or message.
For Love and Seek there is only one basic plan that provides all the features as opposed to a basic plan and a premium plan. As well, the free account features a distinct lack of options that would make the site functionable, which forces you to purchase the basic plan. The free features amount to setting up your account and looking at other people but little more.
The basic monthly price is $16.99 a month, but the per month cost goes down if you purchase the three-month package that amounts to $12.32 a month or the six-month package that amounts to $8.99 a month, both of the lower payments being upfront purchases.
The process of learning how to use Love and Seek’s search and how to message someone on the site is pretty straight forward and designed to be intuitive to all users. You can search by city, activity, newness to the website, and who is currently online. If you’re not interested in looking for your own matches, Look and Seek’s algorithm can search profiles on your behalf and give you five profiles you match with on a daily basis to find someone worth messaging. To message anyone that catches your eye, you can find the message link in the search results next to their profile or on their profile if you’ve already clicked on it.
However, you won’t be able search by username and a search on mobile will hardly be effective considering its lack of a responsive site.
As for how to cancel your Love and Seek subscription plan for any reason, you’re going to have to delete your account. There’s no reason given as to why they’ve chosen to link the two together considering people may wish to stop once they’ve found someone or because they’ve hit a spot of financial trouble. Go to “My Account,” then “Account Status” and find “Other Account Status Changes” to click on the option “Remove My Profile.”
Love and Seek doesn’t offer anything different from other Christian dating websites, but the smaller size of it may be more appealing to people new to online dating as the number of people you have to “sift” through may feel smaller and more manageable. The website is odd in that it links your subscription to your account so that to cancel the payments you have to remove your account, but there could be a technical or cultural decision behind this that users aren’t privy to. All in all, while there’s no reason to try it, there’s also no reason not to try it.
